Help us celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden with the opening of Walker on the Green: Artist-Designed Mini Golf. Meet the artists, enjoy food and drinks from the new Dog House, and enjoy a round of mini-golf on this year’s two eight-hole courses.
The Course
Garden gnomes masquerading as foosball strikers, a scale model of a French chateau, mazes, gopher holes, and contours mapped from the course at the legendary Augusta National Golf Club are just a few ingredients going into the 2013 edition of the artist-designed course. And purists, worry not: at least one hole includes a kitschy, oversize watering can.
This year’s winning proposals were selected from a group that included architects, artists, engineers, machinists, mini-golf aficionados, and a loose creative collective known as Makesh!t who responded to an open call this winter.

adapted from Homer
by Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare
translation by Robert Fagles
directed by Benjamin McGovern
Seating in the Dowling Studio is general admission and begins 30 minutes before curtain.
Every time I sing this song, I hope it's the last time." So says The Poet as he digs deep to sing Homer's epic story of war, honor, violence and the Greek siege of the city of Troy. He's told this story for centuries, conjuring the heroes and battles for different cultures and eras. Now in the shadow of war in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, he unleashes the story's power for a modern audience. As The Poet recites, comments and chats, he compels his audience to connect with his story, to feel what he feels, to believe in the importance of this story. Maybe if he tells the story one more time, the violence will end.
An Iliad premiered in 2010 and has been lauded by critics across the country, including The New York Times this spring: "Mr. O'Hare and Ms. Peterson have telescoped the mighty expanses of Homer's great poem into an evening that scales the conflict of the Trojan War down to an intimate solo show illuminating both the heroism and the horror of warfare." Guthrie regular Stephen Yoakam (The Burial at Thebes, The Winter's Tale ) will portray The Poet under the direction of Benjamin McGovern.
Online sales until 4pm for evening performances, 10am for matinees.

Now in its 15th season, the Peabody Award-winning show, Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me!, uses current stories (from the global to the ridiculous) for questions and comedy. Host Peter Sagal, along with official judge and scorekeeper Carl Kasell, leads a rotating panel of comedians, humorists and journalists, listener contestants and celebrity guests through a comic review of the week’s news.
Each week, Sagal quizzes the panelists and listeners to determine just how closely they paid attention to the week's news. He serves up questions in all forms: lightning rounds, tape from NPR news shows, multiple choice, identify the “fake” stories, and fill-in-the-blank limericks. Listeners call 888-WAIT-WAIT for a chance to win the show’s coveted prize: a custom-recorded greeting by Carl Kasell for their home answering machine or voicemail.
One of the most popular segments is “Who's Carl This Time?,” in which Kasell recites quotes from the week’s newsmakers as contestants guess who he is impersonating. The show’s “Not My Job” segment, when famous people are quizzed on subjects about which they know absolutely nothing, has attracted such names as President Barack Obama (okay, he was Senator Obama at the time…), actor Tom Hanks, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer and comedian Stephen Colbert.
A rotating trio of witty panelists completes the Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! team. They include author and humorist Roy Blount, Jr., advice columnist Amy Dickinson, Washington Post columnist Roxanne Roberts, writer and performer Adam Felber, author P.J. O’Rourke, comedian Paula Poundstone humorist Mo Rocca and more.
In 2011, the show made its television debut on BBC America with a "2011 Year in Review" special, which revisited the top stories of the year from an American and British perspective and celebrity guests from both sides of the pond including award-winning writer Neil Gaiman.
Games Include:
Not My Job" – Notable guests answer questions on topics outside their areas of expertise
Who’s Carl This Time?" – Scorekeeper and legendary newscaster Carl Kasell quotes from the week’s news as contestants guess who he’s impersonating
Listener Limerick Challenge" – Listeners try to fill in the last line of a news-based limerick
Bluff the Listener" – Callers listen to three unlikely news stories read by panelists and choose the true one
Lightning Fill in the Blank" – The final speed round where each panelist answers as many questions as possible in 60 seconds
Rotating Panelists Include:
Roy Blount, Jr. – humorist, journalist, lyricist, columnist and author of 22 books
Brian Babylon - host of The Morning Amp radio show and The Moth Story Slam in Chicago
Tom Bodett – author of seven books and radio anomaly
Alonzo Bodden – winner Last Comic Standing and host of ITV show Inside the Vault
